How to Achieve an Expensive Look This Winter

Winter is the season of opulent textures, cosy layers, and timeless elegance. While you don't need a limitless budget to look expensive, mastering the art of winter dressing can elevate your style game. On top of that, to a degree, you’re a bit limited anyway on how you can give off an expensive look (especially as a busy mum). When you’re out and about, you could be wearing the cutest outfit, but it’s most likely going to be covered up by your coat.

So then you only have your accessories, your makeup, and your hair to play as the biggest components in looking expensive and elegant in general. So, even in the winter, it’s 100% totally possible to achieve an expensive look. So, here’s exactly what you need to know!

Discovering the Perfect Laptop Backpack: Style & Functionality

As a busy mum, teacher and blogger I tend to have a number of devices that I often need to carry.  My choice of laptop bag should not only safeguard my valuable devices but I want it to look good too. I’m not one for having multiple bags, so if I can have a bag that I can utilise for my laptop and everyday then I’m going to be a happy bunny! I have been on the hunt for something that just fits the bill, especially at the start of the new academic year and in my searching I have managed to find some great ones.

Spring Jewellery for a Busy Mum

If you know me personally you will know that I'm never without my jewellery. This love of jewellery was embedded from an early age through my very dear Nan. My nan had the BEST jewellery, many of which I inherited when she sadly passed away. I would remember going into her bedroom and running my little hands over her pearls, charm bracelets and many rings and she would talk me through everyone, what they were made from and the meaning behind them. My passion for finding beautiful pieces has continued through my 20s and 30s, trying to find sustainable pieces that are beautiful but hard-wearing for a busy mum who is also an art teacher (lots of mess and lots of handwashing - you can see why they need to be hard-wearing!) is often hard to find, especially if you are looking for affordability too.

Find Time For Style As A Busy Mum

When you are a busy mum trying to wrangle your kids every morning for school and other activities, fashion is likely the last thing on your mind. We all know how difficult staying stylish can be when you become a mum; and the winning combo of a jumper and a messy bun is often a go to choice.

For many of us may have had holiday’s cancelled (my husband was supposed to be flying to America today) we have been very lucky with the weather and April is set to be absolutely perfect weather to be enjoying the sunshine in your garden! Hopefully it won’t be long before we can be going on our holidays once more.

Simplicity with Sacet

I have always loved jewellery, from the moment my nan would let me delve into her jewellery boxes and play dress up. I would marvel in their beauty, each piece lovingly cared for, holding precious memories or signifying special events of her life. She told me that one day they would all belong to me and sure enough, I now have them. All kept in their place, smelling of her still and something me and my own daughter regularly look at.

Autumnal Vibes

I know it's August and today is 22 degree's, but with September on the horizon, I can't help but look forward Autumn and in particular my autumn wardrobe. My wardrobe always seems to be bursting with more autumnal looks and it is my favourite season for clothes. I love to layer, wear chunky knits scarves and comfy boots whilst sipping on a hazelnut latte, it beats the sweaty summer months and feeling uncomfortable.  I realise this is making me sound like my mother but I've always loved autumn for as long as I can remember.

My birthday is looming and I always end up treating myself to some Autumn wear, so I've been having a little browse online to inspire me.

Perfect Sunglasses Review

Despite the weather being slightly unpredictable at the moment, I am embracing the moments when the sun does come out - I even got my legs out this week! I have also fallen in love with a gorgeous pair of sunglasses that I was sent to review by Perfectglasses.co.uk, I often struggle with finding the perfect pair as I have a seemingly odd shaped head! But this are just perfect and go with so many outfits.

Buying Clothes for Your Husband

I love what my husband wears, most of the time, but I know a few women who despair of the way their other halves dress. For the most part it is not their style it is the fact that they just will not let go of their old favourites, and are not that keen on going shopping. It seems that for some men, they just never seem to get around to doing it.

Time to get the Long Coat Out

The other day I was out enjoying a country walk with the kids. It was a sunny day, but a bit windy. Normally, perfect walking conditions, but only if you are dressed for it. Unfortunately, I was only wearing a light jacket, so was thankful to get my hands around a warm mug of tea, when I got home. It was only then that I realised that I needed to buy some more winter clothes. So, this week, I have been browsing online looking at knitwear, coats and boots.

Mother & Daughter Spring Look

We may have had snow a few nights ago, but my thoughts are firmly set on spring. Daffodils are peeping through, the evenings are getting lighter and spring feels like it's just that little bit closer. With that in mind, my thoughts (as usual) turn to our spring wardrobes. We're not in any dire need of a huge clothing haul, but I would like to get a few staple pieces to see us through. Now Darcie is getting older I like the idea of having slightly matching outfits. Some may think it's cheesy, I think it's pure brilliance!

Baby Boy Winter Wish List

My baby boy is growing just too quickly and so I have been looking to add a few more pieces to his 3-6 and 6-9 months wardrobe. It's a good excuse to warrant some online window shopping and a wish list post!

Merci Maman Personalised Necklace

When I was a little girl I remember going to my Nanny's house and adoringly look at her jewellery, she had so many beautiful pieces and occassionally she would let me try them on and pose in front of her mirror. Those warm and fuzzy memories I think sparked my love for jewellery and even though my own jewellery collection isn't huge there are pieces that I will treasure and most likely pass down to my children or grandchildren like my Nan did with me.

Darcie's Autumn Outfit of the Day

Today has definitely felt like Autumn is finally here. I have been patiently waiting for those fresh crisp autumnal days and they have seemingly started to appear. I am all about autumn, the colours, chillier days, cosy knits & scarfs. Oh and lets not forget a good pumpkin spice latte (yes I'm totally on board with that!).

Mummy & Daughter Style | September at Zara

Sheepskin Leather Jacket ( £49.99) | Stone Wash Black Jeans (£29.99) | Black Leather Boots (£59.99)  | Wine Coloured Jumper (£12.99)
Bird Print Dress (£22.99)  | Wine Coloured Scarf (£8.99)  | Tan Suede Boots (£29.99) | Lace Detail Socks (£3.99)

Recently we had a formal even to attend an we decided to get Darcie a new outfit. After spending a  couple of hours searching we headed to Zara and ending up buying her a complete outfit entirely from there. I adore Zara and often purchase a lot of my own clothes from there, but I have rarely bought things for Darcie, mainly because I forget they do baby & children's clothes. However I think I am completely in love with everything and even wish they did some of the items in adult sizes! So with that in mind I thought I would share with you a mummy and daughter outfit that I'm lusting after for us both. Let's hope I shed the baby weight quick ;)

As you can see my mind is definitely set on autumn fashion, it happens to be my favourite season and I really love the styles that come out at this time of year. Have you been lusting over anything lately?

Darcie's OOTD | June

This morning whilst Jamie was doing our local Park Run, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to take some snaps of my favourite subject, Darcie. Darcie received a beautiful outfit from her Grandparents and I couldn't resist sharing it with you all. Mainly because I'm pretty darn jealous of her wardrobe of late, including this outfit!!

Her grandparents got her this gorgeous linen biker jacket from Next, which is the perfect lightweight jacket for the summer. Literally, why can they not make this in an adults size - its blooming gorgeous!

Her dress is also a Next item, and is a simple navy dress with rather cute giraffes embroidered  on around the hem of the dress. The shoes are from Joules and look super comfy!

Her hat is another Next item (you know we're Next mad in this house!) and just completes the outfit. Luckily Darcie loves wearing hats so its never a battle to get her to wear them.

Daddy all sweaty after his run - love this picture.

Do you ever wish they would do adult sizes in some children's clothes?!

Stackable Bracelets from Beaverbrooks

This Christmas I was exceptionally lucky and was sent the beautiful 'Stack Up The Style' bracelet set (£99). I took part in their #HintList over the Christmas period, and these were the bracelets I had been lusting over.

I was so excited on Christmas morning,  Jamie had intercepted the post and wrapped them up for me so I could open them on Christmas morning! They had been beautifully wrapped and presented. Each bracelet was placed in a beautiful pouch and the put into a this lovely boxed filled with tissue paper and confetti stars. If you're anything like me, the packaging can make a gift that extra bit special.

These bracelets are utterly gorgeous. I was literally blown away by how beautiful they where. For the price, they are 100% worth every penny. Now unfortunately the set is currently unavailable but you can buy them separately. The Infinity bracelet can be found here (£40) and the rose gold tennis bracelet here (on sale at £75 was £95!!) and the rose gold triple strand bracelet here (£30).

If you're thinking ahead to valentines day, then be sure to check out Beaverbrooks range. We purchased quite a few wedding gifts from here, including our bridesmaids necklaces and my mum's and step mum's too. They are the high street jewellers I turn to when I'm looking for that something extra special.

Oh they're just soo pretty and make the perfect arm candy!

*Was sent this for my participation in the #HintList, I did not need to post this review - but loved the items so much I felt they deserved their own post!
