4 Year old Darcie vs 4 Year old Me

Me and my daughter, we can be at loggerheads at times. Her sassiness can be borderline rudeness and sometimes I wonder whether or not I'm creating a little diva. Then my mum reminds me that no, she is actually just a mini me.

Really, a mini me?!

So I thought I would compare my 4-year-old self with Darcie.

11 Years with Him

On the 5th February, I and my husband will be celebrating 11 year's since we fell head over heels for each other. 11 years seem's crazy to me, how can it be 11 years? As I get older, time seems to become blurred, the day's merge together and months seem to be passing before my eyes. We'll soon be preparing for Easter before I know it!

The last 11 years have truly been wonderful, not to sound like a cliche, but I'm so thankful to have found him. We squabble, annoy each other - but we have such a strong bond, no matter how much he continues to put wet towels on the bed - I'll still love him.

Me Vs Bedtime

The plates are in the sink, dinner is over. That only means one thing. Operation bedtime has commenced. I'll set the scene. The house is a pit, the children have gone wild whilst I prepare their dinner, the concept of tidying up is lost on a four and one-year-old.  Toy's have been strategically placed, their hairbrush is normally in an unusual place (they seem to enjoy the daily morning struggle of retrieving it) along with the remote control - Mummy isn't allowed to boxset binge.

This is my battlefield.

2016 Reflection & Looking to 2017

I think almost everyone is in agreement, but I'm totally ready for 2016 to be over with. For us personally as a family, it's been a so-so year. We've had some really lovely moments and made lots of incredible memories. However, it's been hard. Really hard.

First Boyfriend at Age 4

Today my daughter came home and announced she had a boyfriend. She declared he was her best friend and when they grew up they would marry. Of course, I know this is all innocent, things that we all experience through childhood but I couldn't help but notice my hubby's face.

He was heartbroken.

Pumpkin Patch Fun & Half Term is Here!

We've made it through the first half term and we've survived, early starts, school runs, homework and the usual stresses of work/life balance. This past week has been particularly stressful and has left me questioning a lot of things in relation to work and making sure I'm getting the right balance. Running a blog and picking up freelancing jobs as well as working full time certainly is no easy feat and I feel like I'm reaching a point where something has got to give. Despite that, this week I received the news that I have been chosen to represent UK Parent Bloggers at the E-Fluent Bloggers Conference in Paris! When I received my invite, to say I was shocked was an understatement, but I'm incredibly excited to spend three day's in the beautiful city of Paris and meet some incredible other bloggers and brands. However, for this week, I'm hoping I can switch off a little and just focus on my family.

Darcie's First Day of School

So today my big girl headed off to school and I could not be any prouder of her. We arrived at her school nice and early, so she ended up being first in her line. Once her teacher came onto the playground, her face lit up and she started chatting away to her. Then the whistle blew, I gave her kiss and asked if she wanted us to come in with her, her reply "no mummy" and off she went. Me and my husband were left on the playground whilst the other children (and parents) trotted in. Just like that, she had started school.

Henry at 12 Months Old

One year ago we were preparing to take Henry home, a whole year has passed since he was born. A whole year. You will tire of me saying this, but boy that year went quickly. Yesterday (his birthday) I unfortunately, had to work and so he spent the morning with his Daddy and sister at the beach. I'm told he had so much fun, and from the pictures he certainly did! In the afternoon we spent time playing with his new toys and then my family came round for tea and cake! It was lovely and relaxed and at the weekend we will continue to celebrate by taking a trip to the zoo.

#HappyEggTasteMakers

Today, whilst in town doing a spot of Christmas shopping, Darcie asked if we could have cake. I told her that was a fantastic idea, but even better it we baked our own. A huge grin spread across her face and replied "yes please mummy". With that we headed home to bake.
