Handy Ways to Stay on Top of Housework With a Toddler

As a busy parent you are constantly looking for new ways to stay on top of your housework and not get snowed under with chores every single day. Life with a toddler is no walk in the park, especially when it comes to keeping your house clean, tidy and presentable to pending guests! Whether you’re hoping to declutter your home, or find a better schedule with regards to cleaning or laundry, here are some handy ways to stay on top of your housework when you have a toddler nearby.

Clear Out Unused Toys Regularly

As soon as your child reaches the toddler stage, you quickly come to realize how much stuff they actually have in your home. Circulating toys regularly and getting rid of the unwanted and unused items can help to keep your home in order. You may want to invest in a self storage unit if there are items you want to hold onto for future children or a later date.

Tidying Up Can Wait!

One of the most important things to remember as a parent is that tidying up can always wait. Don’t put pressure on yourself to tidy up your home every five minutes, because it’s only going to get messy again. Either wait until your child has gone to bed before you clean up, or pick a couple of days each week to have a big tidy up of toys. It’s a waste of time to tidy up after your toddler as they go, because the mess will just keep coming!

Keep a Laundry Schedule

Having a clear laundry schedule can help to take the stress away from doing your washing. When you have little ones your laundry pile can easily build up in the blink of an eye, so it’s important to stay on top of it as much as you can. Create a schedule that allows you to manage your laundry loads in a way that works for you. For example, you might wash all of your toddlers’ clothes on a Friday, and wash your clothes on a Saturday so that you don’t feel like you’re battling the washing machine every single day of the week.

Batch Cook When You Can

If you want to free up some much-needed time, then it is definitely worth batch cooking some of your favorite family meals so that you always have something healthy on hand. When you have had a busy day at home with your toddler, all you want to do is put your feet up and enjoy a healthy, home cooked meal. By batch cooking your meals you can save a tonne of time and always have something nutritious to eat without the added stress.

Hopefully, these ideas will provide you with some inspiration when it comes to looking after your toddler and keeping your house clean and tidy. Remember, your number one goal as a parent is to make sure that your little one is healthy and happy; don’t put too much pressure on yourself to have the perfect house. Having a clean and tidy home is obviously wonderful, but don’t forget to enjoy the little things in life too!
