If you know me personally you will know that I'm never without my jewellery. This love of jewellery was embedded from an early age through my very dear Nan. My nan had the BEST jewellery, many of which I inherited when she sadly passed away. I would remember going into her bedroom and running my little hands over her pearls, charm bracelets and many rings and she would talk me through everyone, what they were made from and the meaning behind them. My passion for finding beautiful pieces has continued through my 20s and 30s, trying to find sustainable pieces that are beautiful but hard-wearing for a busy mum who is also an art teacher (lots of mess and lots of handwashing - you can see why they need to be hard-wearing!) is often hard to find, especially if you are looking for affordability too.
Over the years my tastes have varied but there will always be some staples that I wear every day. My Great Grandfathers wedding ring has been on my thumb since my Nan passed when I was 22, it's a chunky gold staple that is a timeless classic. Despite its simplicity, it's one that is often complimented the most, the fact that it is over 100 years old and holds sentimental meaning makes it that more special - especially as the shape of the ring looks relatively modern, many people find it hard to believe it is that old. I think mixing vintage jewellery with new is perfect for an elevated and perhaps slightly more unique look and this is something I aim to do with my rings through layering.
But when you are a busy mum I mainly aim for a non-fussed look because, quite frankly, who has the time? Layered necklaces are my favourite because they can make even the simplest outfit look really put together. buying jewellery that is of a more classic design means you can throw together different looks, easily, without having to spend tones of time getting ready in the morning. I love a simple tee and jeans with layered necklaces, these ones are from Daisy London - a beautiful, sustainable brand who I have fallen head over heels with!
Statement earrings are my thing. Whether they are chunky gold hoops, beautiful handmade clay creations or colourful resin, I love them all! Now my children are older I don't have to worry about little hands pulling at them, so I think I'm making up for lost time because I'm never without a statement earring.
