Rainbow, Unicorns and Love Heart Themed Birthday Party

This year my girl turns 6 and after much persuading, we've agreed on a birthday party. In all honesty, the thought of being in charge of a children's birthday party terrifies me but I managed to organise my wedding so hopefully, this will be a breeze. Darcie is a lover of all things girly. She loves pink, rainbows and unicorns so we think that will pretty much be the theme. I have just under two months to plan so it's all systems go and I'm frantically pinning away on Pinterest all my ideas for a hearts, rainbows and unicorn themed birthday party! And as with everything I do, I thought I would share with you my ideas and eventually the big day. Also, keep reading to the end as there may be a nice little treat of some classic Swizzels sweets you could potentially win!

Decor

I have to admit, I feel I'm quite lucky in that my daughter has chosen quite a wide variety of themes that all fit well together. I'm hoping to bring all of these elements together with the decor. I'm to keep costs down I'm planning on doing a lot of the decor myself and I'm actually quite looking forward to doing. One of the things I loved about our wedding was that I made the favour boxes and filled them with Swizzels sweets personalised love heart sweets, all of which went down well with our guests.

Rainbow heart bunting is something I know I can do easily, all you need is colour paper, paper cutter or scissors and some string and your good to go. It's cost effective but looks incredible also! Unicorn paper lanterns are another easy do it yourself job and the results look beautiful.

Food

Rainbow themed makes me go giddy with excitement, there is literally so much you can do food wise with this theme. Cake pops, dipped marshmallows, rainbow fruit platters are all perfect for this theme. As I do tend to have a sweet tooth and these special sweets hold memories for me, Personalised Love Hearts Birthday Party Sweets would be perfect for this theme and add a really nice touch.

For lunch, to make sure our guests are full we shall be making unicorn pizzas which they will make themselves - I can just picture them all getting messy and having tons of fun!

Party Bags

As I love a DIY party I will be making the party bags myself also. I love paper bags and there are many companies that offer printing to personalise your own party bags, however, if you have a printer and are handy with design software you can create your own personalised goodie bags for a fraction of the cost. As Darcie loves crafting I think this will have to be apart of the day too, perhaps making their own unicorn masks that they can take home.

Cake

Now, this is where my DIY skills fail me. Making a cake I can do, but decorating I can just never get right. Perhaps, I'll give it ago but I know that to be on the safe side I'll probably opt to have it done professionally.
