Family Days Out in Norfolk

Norfolk is a wonderful location with a wide variety of sights and activities, there’s something for everyone! You may choose to spend a day at the coast, learn the history behind infamous Norfolk landmarks, embrace all the wildlife and nature amongst the rolling countryside, or spend your pocket money at numerous leisure centres. The list of possibilities is endless:

Beach days

We’re spoilt for choice along the East Anglian coastline; Hunstanton and Gorleston provide miles of sand to compete in team sports and build extravagant sandcastles. Quaint seaside towns like Cromer and Sheringham are brilliant for exploring and crabbing, while Great Yarmouth seafront will tantalise your taste buds with delicious doughnuts, fresh fish and chips and traditional Mr Whippy ice cream. Some of the best memories are made on a Norfolk beach, where you can arrange the perfect day out for your family.

National trust walks

Understandably, you might not be able to afford to take the family out every weekend, but by embarking on a National Trust walk around Norfolk, you’ll have an abundance of days out that won’t cost a penny. Appreciate the view when walking around Blickling Hall Estate or Felbrigg Hall, catch a glimpse of the seals and their pups from November until February at Horsey Beach, or bathe in the sunshine with a picnic at Sheringham Park. You can spend an entire day at any of these fantastic locations, or a short circuit walk to wear out the kids.

Amusement parks

For a fun-packed day out, visit one of many amusement parks to keep both kids and adults entertained for hours. For those who belong amongst the outdoors and nature, Bewilderwood and Go APE will test your stamina. However, the brave-hearted will love the thrill-seeking rides at Pleasure Wood Hills or a day pass at the Pleasure Beach – even the most daring will test their limits at these theme parks. Or, maybe you prefer a trip to the Dinosaur Adventure Park to turn this small corner of the world into one big adventure.

Indoor activities

This is the UK, and the weather is less than desirable sometimes, being able to plan days out when the weather is abysmal is key. Luckily, Norwich has a large choice of indoor activities to keep the entire family entertained, such as; an educational trip to Norwich Castle Museum, a viewing of the latest Puppet Theatre show (particularly popular with the little ones) or burn off some energy and show off your skills at the Gravity Trampoline centre. Even when it’s raining, there’s still plenty to do in Norfolk.

Now you’ve got a lengthy list of places, you can treat the family to a special day out. All that’s left to plan is getting there and back, food and drink, and any tickets or documents. For transport, you could book a local taxi, Norwich has plenty of taxi hire companies to choose from. Or, you could take advantage of the public transport available for a cheaper travel fare around the city.
