If you follow me on social media, you will know that this year we're giving our home a little revamp. We currently are working on our living room and hall way and are awaiting new flooring to be laid. It's all very exciting. One thing we found quite stressful though was the fact that both the Hubby and I have very different interior design style preference. For example, I like shabby chic and my husband prefers a more modern design - this combination really doesn't mix!
We debated for quite some time. I would spend hours scouring Pinterest and sending him multiple pins. Each time his reply would be "yuck". But something that seemingly both liked was the industrial theme. The rustic look of the furniture tie-in with my fondness of shabby chic, the industrial theme also uses a lot of clean lines which appealed to my hubby. So a very good compromise! Which is what a marriage is all about. Compromise.
In a lot of homes, I do feel that women tend to have more of an input in the design of a families home (please don't think I'm being stereotypical here), but the fact is just that - it's not just one persons home and I feel a home should represent the entire family. Which is why we enjoyed doing an interior design quiz to determine what both mine and my hubby's style preferences were. Because of our compromise we're now both really happy with the way our home is shaping up. One of us isn't left feeling that they're making do, or, left feeling disgruntled that they're not having an input in the decision making.
I would love to know what your interior design style preference is, does it match that of your partners? Have there been any disagreements during renovations?
