I hazily roll over trying to get comfortable in bed whilst my son continues to kick me in my back. The (what started out to be genital) kicks get more lively, along with the giggles. I sigh, reach over for my phone to check the time. Surely, this boy should know I need my sleep. My phone lights up. It's 7:15 am. Shit. I should have been up an hour ago.
I start to panic. I now have 45 mins, to have a shower, wash my hair, dress, do my make up, get the children dressed and give them breakfast, get out the door and go to school, nursery and work.
I do love Mondays.
As you will know if you're a regular reader, I'm trying to have a positive outlook and not to dwell on the negatives. Well by 7:30, I definitely wasn't feeling the positive vibes. Henry was being clingy and was practically hanging off my leg as I applied my makeup. He then proceeded to play hide and seek with my Tangle Teezer hair brush. After 10 mins of stressful searching, it turns out a hair brush should be kept in a toy kitchen. Logical. Cheers Henry. It was then the usual, 'let's try and run away from Mummy as she tries to dress me', which then lead to more whining from him.
Darcie was a legend. Got herself dressed and got her school and PE bag ready herself. Though she then manages to get tooth paste over her jumper. Quick change number one. Quick change number two then happened almost simultaneously has Henry falls in the dog bowl. It was breakfast on the go, cereal in a bowl with no milk for Darcie, along with a banana because I got mummy guilt (Henry get's breakfast at nursery).
Jamie sets off to take them both to school and nursery whilst I head to work. When I arrive someone comments on my outfit and say's "You're looking glamorous this morning, how do you have time with the kiddies?".
Because I'm bloody superwomen. A disorganised superwomen.
So positives from what started a rather stressful morning?
- Both of the children were dressed and got to school on time.
- Darcie got ready almost completely independently
- I found my hair brush, I'm now on to my third Tangle Teezer after the last two "disappeared' and this one was the Compact Styler, which I got for Christmas.
- I arrived at work on time
- The rest of the day went pretty swimmingly.
I think it just goes to show that if I had let the little things get to me it would have probably impacted on the rest of the day negatively. Positive outlook, positive outcomes - that and super mum powers help too.
Happy Monday Folks.
