There are so many weaning products that are available to parents, it can be a little bit daunting knowing which ones to try. Babies can be fussy and sometimes it takes a little bit of trial and error to find the perfect weaning products that you and your baby enjoy using. With Henry now being 10 months, we've grown to love quite a few products that we would simply not be without and I thought it would be nice to share them with you today.
Drinking
Finding the perfect cup was a real mission for us this time around. Darcie was never particularly fussy and would take any kind of cup that was offered. Henry on the other hand, well let's just say he know's what he likes and dislikes. They only two types of cups he will drink from is from a Doidy Cup which our health visitor gave us and the Munchkin Click Lock Tip & Sip Flexi Straw Cup (wow, mouthful!). The Munchkin cup is perfect when we're out and about, but the Doidy cup is brilliant when we're at home because it's more like a standard cup so hopefully this will help him more in the long run.
Weaning at Home
When we're at home I do like to try and give Henry home cooked meals wherever possible. The Babymoov Nutribaby really has been my companion through the early stages of weaning. Particularly when making purees. Even now we still use the steam function for vegetables, sterilising bottles and more recently I made some pretty good milkshake and frozen yoghurt using the blender.
As I have mentioned before, weaning can get messy! We've been loving the Bibetta Bib whilst we're at home because we can let Henry enjoy all the wonders of baby lead weaning knowing that his clothes are going to be kept clean, which means tidying up after mealtimes is much less stressful. Teaming this with his Babymoov high chair, he is always happy and safe at meal times. For culterly, we have introduced a spoon (but that's it at this stage), and he finds the OXO Tot Spoons the easiet when (trying!) to feed himself along with the OXO Tot bowls. But usually, we just pop food on his tray at this stage of the weaning process.
Weaning Out and About
I can remember when weaning my daughter being quite overwhelmed when we had to go out and about. I would tend to fill my bag with everything when really I would only need a few handy products. OXO Tot's Roll up Bib is now a changing bag essential, it really is perfect for when you're travelling. I like that it still has the easy to clean silicone pocket that catches any food, but also that it was a fabric top around the neck which is more comfortable than other bibs that are completely silicone.
The Babymoov containers are another fab item for your changing bags. We quite often fill them with fruit, veg sticks, rice cakes etc. They also come in handy at home as they're microwave and freezer safe. If we're ever in a rush we will also use baby pouches as you can easily keep them in your changing bag (unopened) for months - so great in an emergency. For Aisha are definitely Henry's favourite as they are jam packed with flavour. They boast recipes from around the world including Jamaican Jerk Chicken, Tomato and Chickpea Curry and even a Shepards Pie. I have even had a try of these and they truly are delicious! They are like nothing I have ever tried from "jarred" baby food, so they have a huge thumbs up from me.
As I have said before have the right products can really help aid weaning, its all about making it less stressful and more enjoyable for you and your child. Do you have any weaning product favourites?
