How to restyle your home for summer

restyle your home for summer

Hello warm weather. If you’re anything like me you’ll be so super thrilled that summer has arrived. I love it. I love the summer wardrobe, I love the blue skies, I love the warmth, I love the ice cream, I love the trips to the beach. I love the bbqs and the socialising. I love the fact that the little ones can wear less clothes (less clothes = less washing, right?) or basically just live in swimwear. Summer is such a great season, it gets people outdoors and everyone feeling good. But all this positivity and good vibes doesn’t have to and shouldn’t stop with you and your family. Spread some summer lovin’ around your house too. Why not give your home a makeover? To help you embrace the warmer weather from inside your property, and if it’s super duper hot check out accidentalhipstermum.com’s tips for dealing with a heatwave. In the meantime here are some summer-themed interior design hints and tips to get you started.

1. Switch up your soft furnishings

During the colder, darker months, you might find that your home is full of soft furnishings that are made from heavy fabrics, such as cosy throws and fluffy rugs. However, with summer now here, it’s the ideal time to switch up these accessories to help transition your home into the new season. For example, instead of dressing your bed in a thick duvet, why not change it for one that’s more lightweight? Moreover, you could update your window dressings. Instead of having dark, bulky hangings, you could go for more floaty designs, such as stylish pleated eyelet curtains in pale, fresh colours like cream, beige or silver. These window dressings can instantly brighten up and refresh your rooms and create a more airy, spacious look.

2. Give your walls a lick of paint

To breathe new life into your home this sunny season, you could reach for your overalls and brushes to give it a lick of paint. Freshening up your walls is a guaranteed way to give your living spaces a new and improved look, especially if you go for summer-inspired colours. You may find sticking with light, neutral shades such as white, cream and vanilla is a good place to start. However, if you’re keen to inject some colour, there are a whole plethora of hues you could go for. For example, you could keep it cool and crisp with splashes of pale blue or deep turquoise, or you might want to opt for a vibrant shade of fuchsia pink or brilliant yellow.

3. Bring the outdoors in

It’s no secret that nature comes into its own during the summer months. So while it’s blossoming outdoors, why not bring an element of this into your home too? For instance, you could decorate your rooms with vases of beautiful flowers or flourishing potted plants. On particularly pleasant days, you could invite the fresh air inside by opening your windows wide or leaving your patio doors open to let the cool breeze freely circulate around your home.

By following these simple hint and tips, you shouldn’t struggle to give your home a much needed summer makeover.
